Bulk actions let you apply the same change to multiple macros in one operation.
Use them to activate, deactivate, label, edit, delete, or otherwise manage a selected group of macros without opening each macro individually.
Select macros
To select macros:
- Open Management.
- Use search, filters, or a saved view to narrow the results.
- Select the checkbox next to each macro you want to include.
The bulk-action controls appear after one or more macros are selected.
Select all macros on the current page
Use the checkbox in the table header to select all macros shown on the current page.
Before continuing, confirm:
- how many macros are selected;
- which filters are active;
- whether every selected macro should receive the same change.
Selecting all macros on the current page does not necessarily select every matching macro across all pages.
Select macros across multiple pages
When supported by the current operation, you can keep selected macros while moving between pages.
This lets you build one selection from different parts of the filtered results.
Review the final selection count before opening a bulk action.
Available bulk actions
The actions available depend on the selected macros and their current state.
Bulk actions can include:
- activate;
- deactivate;
- add or remove labels;
- edit macro properties and actions;
- delete;
- reorder.
Some actions are unavailable when the selection contains deleted macros or macros that do not support the requested change.
Open a bulk action
After selecting the required macros:
- Open the bulk-action menu.
- Choose the action you want to apply.
- Configure the change, when required.
- Review the selected macros and intended result.
- Confirm the operation.
Review the operation before confirming
Before applying a bulk action, check:
- the number of selected macros;
- the active search and filters;
- the selected action;
- the fields or values being changed;
- any warnings or validation messages;
- the preview, when available.
Do not confirm the operation when the selected macros do not all require the same change.
Wait for the operation to finish
After confirming a bulk action, wait for the result before starting another operation.
Do not submit the same action again while it is still processing.
The result can show:
- successful changes;
- skipped macros;
- validation failures;
- macros that could not be updated;
- warnings requiring review.
Use filters before selecting macros
Filters are the safest way to create a focused selection.
For example, you can filter for:
- active macros not used in the last 30 days;
- macros in one category;
- macros with a specific label;
- inactive macros;
- macros restricted to a specific group;
- macros requiring review.
After applying filters, review the results before selecting all matching macros.
Deleted macros and bulk actions
Deleted macros cannot receive normal Zendesk update operations because they no longer exist as current Zendesk macros.
Deleted macros cannot be selected for bulk or individual edit operations.
Use history and restore workflows for deleted macros instead.
Trial limit
Trial accounts can complete up to 20 bulk operations during the 14-day trial.
One confirmed action applied to several macros counts as one bulk operation.
For example, deactivating 15 selected macros in one confirmed action counts as one operation.
Bulk-operation safety
Before making a large change:
- Narrow the results with filters.
- Review the selected macro count.
- Confirm that all selected macros require the same action.
- Export the affected macros when an external reference is needed.
- Review the preview and validation results.
- Wait for the operation to finish before leaving the page.
- Check the final state if any warnings or failures appear.
For changes to macro content, access, ticket fields, or other actions, review the detailed bulk-edit preview before confirming.
